The 6 tonne giants of the track bash and barge around Oran Park’s South Circuit. Bob Middleton in the Freightliner will try to hold off the storming advances of the Smaller Isuzu of Steve Coulter. Super Truck racing throws up a lot of surprises and close, reverse grid racing. Bajema, Zammit, Bomberle and Hewat will all be leading at some stage during the weekend. Unpredictable, exciting and huge.

 

Australian Formula 3 Championship

Racing for the CAMS Gold Star, Formula Three is the fastest category on the Shannons Nationals Programme. Now a truly international event, Australian Formula 3 includes Holling from England, Mapelli from Italy and the local brigade of Tander, Macrow and a host of young hopefuls trying to make their name in open wheeler racing.

 

GT Championship

Porsche, Ferrari Aston Martin and Lamborghini. The great marques of the Sports Car world will be competing in this exciting series. See the worlds most exotic cars racing around Australia’s best circuit.

 

Australian Production Car Championship

The Showroom Showdown. The cars are raced the way they were driven out of the showroom. Ford and Holden V8’s, hot hatches, BMW’s and a wide variety of cars and drivers line up on a staggered grid. The hot hatches start first and the big V8’s have to chase them down. Always interesting racing.

 

Commodore Cup

Since the switch to VS-model Commodores this category have taken a big step up. Some of the more regular competitors from past years have made their way into the Fujitsu V8 Supercars. The racing is close, the cars are very equal, and there is always plenty of action.

 

Formula Vee

This entry level open wheeler formula continues to strengthen across Australia. The Formula Vee competitors are joining the Shannons Nationals as a special guest category. The action will be outstanding. Expect to see a lot of cars and close racing.
